Advance Dental Clinic Chelmsford

Our first new build.

The clinic was designed totally from the standpoint of function and cross infection control. The Council insisted on red brick and a pitched roof yet we still managed to get planning permission for a reasonably modernist building. The building is deep and narrow and has to be almost totally top lit. All the surgeries borrow this light through opaque glass screens and also have skylights over the dental chair letting the patients gaze up at the clouds. Light and translucency is maximised to obtain a clean bright non-threatening environment. A suitable surgical environment was achieved for easy maintenance of sterile conditions by removing everything possible from the surgeries. Staff and patient circulation are separated to increase ergonomic efficiency of the practice as well as achieving a sense of calm.
